LAW 828 - Civil Rights Litigation: The 1983 Suit
This course focuses on the use of 42 U.S.C. section 1983 in litigation seeking to protect constitutional and civil rights. The section 1983 statute provides a federal damage and injunctive action for individuals whose rights have been deprived by governmental officials acting under color of law. Topics covered include the elements of a section 1983 claim and governmental defenses.
