LAW 622D - Fundamental Legal Skills II
This course is a continuation of Fundamental Legal Skills I and takes place over the first seven weeks of the second semester. During the second semester, students will learn how to: • Conduct more complex legal research, now in the context of analyzing issues presented for appeal; • Master citation skills; • Gather, organize and interpret the facts of a case by reviewing a trial record; • Present facts in a manner favorable to the client’s position, while adhering to the ethical requirements of honesty and accuracy; • Develop persuasive writing skills and professionalism in written advocacy; • Write a quality appellate brief; and • Engage in an appellate oral argument in the first year moot court program.
