ED 660 - Trends and Issues in Early Childhood Education

Course Description: This course provides an overview of the field of early childhood in the United States as well as in some other cultures. Students will study the philosophical, sociological and theoretical foundations of the field of early childhood education. They will learn about the impact of critical historical events on early childhood education. They will observe and analyze different program models. Current topics and issues, such as advocacy, professionalism, ethics, and accreditation, will be considered. Fieldwork/apprenticeship required.
